Bal Basera
Every Child Deserves a Home.
A Safe Place to Grow, Learn & Belong
When a child loses their parents to HIV, the world can be an overwhelming and isolating place. Stigma, poverty, and the lack of any family support can trap these children in cycles of vulnerability that last a lifetime.
Bal Basera was established in August 2010 with one simple, powerful belief: no child should suffer for something they had no control over. Registered under the Juvenile Justice Act 2015 and overseen by the Child Welfare Committee, Bal Basera provides 80 children with a fully structured, deeply caring environment.
"Bal Basera is not an institution. It's a family โ where every child is seen, valued, and given a future worth believing in."
Children in Bal Basera attend local schools, receive regular medical check-ups at our adjacent Community Health Center, and are guided by trained house parents and counsellors. The goal is always reintegration โ reunion with surviving family or society โ with long-term care available for those who need it.
